A Vatican ban on all visitors sporting “inappropriate attire” has now been extended from St Peter’s Basilica to the whole of the Vatican City territory.
Guards manning the official entry point into the tiny, walled state begun pulling visitors aside overnight for sporting “inappropriate” attire, Italian news agency ANSA reported, the Herald-Sun says.
The new decree, particularly targeting those in shorts and shoulder-revealing shirts, sent several tourists off to local stores to buy shawls, scarves and pairs of trousers.
However, locals just coming to use its pharmacy, post office and store were particularity taken aback, ANSA said.
